Improvements to the Guayama Waste Water Treatment Plant

UNDER CONSTRUCTION

The Guayama Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) stands as a 10 MGD Secondary $80 Million Treatment Plant facility situated in the municipality of Guayama, Puerto Rico. Project funding was sourced from the Puerto Rico Aqueduct and Sewer Authority (PRASA) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) under the Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery Program (CDBG-DF). Supported by these entities, the project encompasses a range of enhancements, including the replacement and installation of influent screens and screening compactors, the construction of new degritting units, primary clarifiers, sludge pump stations, bioreactor tanks, and aerobic reactors. Additionally, the project involves the installation of new pumps, chlorine contact chambers, digesters, blowers, switchgear rooms, electrical rooms, and a chlorination/dechlorination system, among other critical improvements. This comprehensive initiative further includes the demolition of existing units, structural retrofits, electrical system overhauls, and enhancements to the operations/maintenance building, site, and service roads.
