The construction of new facilities in Fort Lauderdale has led to the establishment of the Major League Soccer (MLS) team Inter Miami CF. On the 66-acre site, the existing unused Lockhart Stadium was demolished to make way for the construction of a new 18,800-seat MLS stadium with club suites, concessions, media provisions, and VIP amenities. The project also includes a 54,600 square foot state-of-the-art training facility, one of the largest in Major League Soccer, offering locker rooms, gyms, hydrotherapy pools with an underwater treadmill, cafeteria, offices, meeting rooms, and media workspaces.
The complex has seven lighted, full-sized training fields; six natural grass, and a turf field with 1,500 seats for high school and community sporting events. The Design/Build, fast-track project was completed in 11 months. The schedule was incredibly demanding in order to meet the first home game of the IMCF expansion franchise. Lemartec had to integrate personnel and operating procedures of three different construction firms into a joint venture and hit the ground running immediately. The design/build approach allowed Inter Miami CF to proactively manage the design and construction of this project.
